Toilet repair in Greenville and the Upstate
Toilet repair for a toilet that runs, leaks, rocks or clogs and is wasting water or damaging your floor. Most toilet problems are quick, inexpensive repairs.
Why does my toilet keep running?
A toilet that keeps running usually has a worn flapper that lets water leak into the bowl, a fill valve that will not shut off, or a float set too high. These are inexpensive parts. Ethical Plumbing repairs the toilet or tells you honestly if replacement makes more sense. Call 864-438-0525.
- Running toilets
- Leaks at the base
- Clogs that keep coming back
- Wobbly toilets
Most toilet problems are small repairs
A running toilet can waste hundreds of gallons a day, and a slow leak at the base can rot the subfloor before anyone notices. The good news is that the parts inside a toilet are simple and inexpensive.
We diagnose the problem, replace the worn part with a quality one, and check the shutoff valve and supply line while we are there. If the toilet is cracked, very old, or keeps needing repairs, we price a new toilet alongside the repair so you can decide.
Common toilet problems
Call when you notice:
- The toilet runs or refills on its own
- Water on the floor around the base
- The toilet rocks or feels loose
- Weak or incomplete flushes
- Clogs more than once in a while
- A sewer smell near the toilet

When a toilet clog is something more
An occasional clog is normal. A toilet that clogs often, or one that gurgles when the washer drains or bubbles when you run the tub, may point to a problem further down the line. If several fixtures are slow at once, the main line may be the cause, and drain cleaning or a camera inspection is the next step.
What affects the price of toilet repair
You get a written price before work starts. It depends on:
- Which part has failed
- Wax ring and flange condition
- Subfloor damage under a leaking toilet
- Clearing a clog in the drain line
- Repair versus replacement

Toilet repair FAQs
How do I stop a toilet from running?
Lift the tank lid and check that the flapper seals and the float is not set too high. If it keeps running, the flapper or fill valve needs replacing.
Why is water leaking around the base of my toilet?
Usually a failed wax ring or a loose toilet. Stop using it and call; leaks at the base can damage the subfloor.
Why does my toilet rock?
Loose bolts, a broken flange or a damaged subfloor. A rocking toilet will eventually break the wax seal and leak.
How do I check for a silent toilet leak?
Put a few drops of food coloring in the tank and wait 15 minutes without flushing. Color in the bowl means the flapper is leaking.
Is a running toilet expensive to fix?
Usually not. Flappers and fill valves are inexpensive parts.
When should I replace instead of repair?
If the porcelain is cracked, the toilet is very old and inefficient, or it needs repairs often, replacement usually makes more sense.
Why does my toilet gurgle?
Gurgling can mean a partial clog or a venting problem. If other drains gurgle too, the main line may be involved.
Can you repair any toilet brand?
Yes. We repair all common brands and carry the most common parts.
