Pipe repair in Greenville and the Upstate
Pipe repair for a pinhole leak, a dripping joint or a corroded section. We repair the damaged pipe properly and check what caused it.
Can a leaking pipe be repaired, or does it need replacing?
Most single leaks can be repaired by replacing the damaged section or fitting. If the pipe is failing in several places, replacing that run, or repiping, usually costs less over time. Ethical Plumbing shows you both options with written prices. Call 864-438-0525.
- Pinhole and joint leaks
- Corroded sections
- Supply and drain pipe
- Copper, PEX, CPVC, galvanized
A lasting repair, not a patch
Clamps and tape stop a drip for a while, but they are not repairs. We cut out the damaged section and replace it with new pipe and proper fittings, then pressure-test the line before closing anything up.
We also look for the reason the pipe failed. Pinhole leaks in copper often point to water chemistry or high pressure. Leaks at fittings may come from water hammer or pipes that were never properly supported. Fixing the cause keeps the next leak from showing up a few feet away. If the problem is the pipe itself across the house, repiping may be the better answer.

Pipes in Upstate homes
Crawl space homes are common across the Upstate, and pipe under the house deals with humidity, temperature swings and the occasional freeze. Older homes may have galvanized steel or polybutylene. If you are seeing your second or third leak, ask us about the overall condition of your pipe. A yearly look under the house with the VIP Prevention Plan catches slow leaks before they rot subfloors.

Pipe repair FAQs
What causes pinhole leaks in copper pipe?
Water chemistry, high water pressure and age are the usual causes. Several pinholes usually mean more are coming.
Can you repair a pipe inside a wall?
Yes. We open only as much as needed to reach the pipe and can recommend someone to patch the drywall.
Is a pipe repair clamp a permanent fix?
No. Clamps are for emergencies. A proper repair replaces the damaged section.
How do I know if I have polybutylene pipe?
It is usually gray plastic pipe, often stamped PB, common in homes built from the late 1970s to the mid 1990s.
Should I repair or repipe?
One leak on healthy pipe is a repair. Repeated leaks or failing pipe material across the house usually means repiping costs less over time.
Will my insurance cover a leaking pipe?
Many policies cover sudden water damage but not the pipe repair itself. Check with your insurer.
How long does a pipe repair take?
Most repairs are finished in one visit.
What should I do while I wait for a plumber?
Turn off the water to the fixture or the main shutoff, and move anything that could be damaged.
